All are encouraged to attend the annual KNU General Meeting on November 21st at the Kessler Park United Methodist Church (corner of Colorado and Turner), at 7pm. Please use the north doors by the parking lot to enter building and proceed to Fellowship Hall. Meeting highlights will include a 2019 organization retrospect, officer nominations/voting, and conservation guidelines presented by Guest Speaker and City of Dallas Rep Bill Hersch. Good to know!

In advance of the general meeting, the Nominations Committee has prepared the Slate of Candidates running for the following officer positions:

  • President – Susan Via is acting President and running for a second term. She has held various positions including VP, Secretary and Treasurer, and has served as Beautification Chair and 2018 Kessler Krawl Chair. In addition to her sommelier talents, she can also wield a rake and looper! Her work ethic, diligence and long-standing familiarization with Kessler’s governance is a feather in her cap.
  • Vice-President – Robert Miller currently serves as Social Events Coordinator and has welcomed residents to the fold as past New Neighbors Chair. Robert, partner Nick and 5-year-old Eli moved to Kessler Park in 2016, after attending Fort Worth’s Brite Divinity School. Along with the move, he brought a real estate and restoration passion and has renovated many area properties. His community service includes Human Rights Campaign DC, Black Tie Dallas, AIDS Outreach Center Fort Worth, Fairness Fort Worth, Ryan Place Homeowner’s Association, and other non-profit work. He is versed in community development, volunteer organization, and leadership experience, and strives to promote strong, diverse community.
  • Secretary – Lila Belitz seeks another term as Secretary and has served on the board for 2 years. Her volunteering basket is filled with KNU Minutes, to-do lists for the annual picnic, good reads for the Kessler Stevens Park Book Club, DMA activities, and board work for Methodist Hospital and the Dallas Guild. Somehow, she squeezes in a game of Mahjongg, a brisk hike, a little travel, and front row at the Blue Candlelight Music Series.
  • Treasurer – Open position

Officers must be able to attend monthly meetings and perform the duties and responsibilities of the positions as set forth in the KNU By-Laws. See officer descriptions/duties.

Officer nominations will also be accepted from the floor on the night of our annual meeting. Plan to attend, shake a hand, get up to speed on conservation do’s and don’ts when remodeling or adding on to your home, and become an active part of YOUR neighborhood. WE do our best to serve and represent the interests of our residents, turn on the lights, keep the grounds groomed, ensure that safety measures are in place, collaborate with the City of Dallas and other area non-profits in funding improvements & special projects, and maintain quality of life here in Kessler. Won’t your join us!?!

There are also a host of volunteer-driven committees that are instrumental in keeping our neighborhood up and running. To learn more, click here.
