Short Term Rentals ban hits home in District 1

A District 1 survey and request for Kessler residents to provide feedback on short-term rentals was posted on our website for months leading up to a City Council recent vote to ban short term rentals in single-family neighborhoods. The 12-3 vote, which was deliberated by the public and Council for over 5 hours, may have minimized excess noise, revelry and area traffic for some, but others are feeling the economic hit and impacted retirement plans.

Enforcement of the ordinance takes effect in 6 months, affecting Homeowners in District 1 who rent out properties on the websites Airbnb and Vrbo.

Council members Chad West, Casey Thomas and Jaime Resendez voted against the motion.
