The Bishop Arts streetcar extension opens on August 27, 2016, and the free D Link bus currently serving the area will be redirected to serve Downtown Dallas only. To usher riders to and from the streetcar, a shuttle bus will make a square route including Davis, Polk, Jefferson and Zang, every 20 minutes from 9:30am to Midnight, Monday – Sunday in conjunction with the streetcar hours of operation. The shuttle will cost $2.50 one way or a $5 day pass for round trips. Some Oak Cliff residents are not happy about the undesirable high fares associated with such a short ride that covers roughly a square mile. The streetcar service is free. Ridership is expected to continually increase, in keeping with the blossoming appeal of our trendy off Dallas arts district. Two streetcars at a time will run on the new extended line. A grand opening party for the new streetcar line is slated for 9am – 1pm Saturday, August 27.
