Don’t miss out on a host of Big D holiday events in the month of December including lights and displays, live performances, and galleries & exhibits. But first, loose the creepy elf ears and bad Christmas sweater (unless you’re into that kind of thing)! Check out the Holiday in the National Parks special exhibit at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. The exhibit will be adorned with elegant trinkets pulled from the 2007 White House Christmas trunk archives. Models of the Alamo, Frederic Douglass House, Mount Rushmore, Spanish missions, and more are incorporated into the exhibit, as well as behind-the-scenes photos of Mrs. Bush’s 31 visits to and 45 events in support of the National Parks. There’s a replica of the official White House Blue Room Christmas tree covered in gold stars, gold beaded garland, and 347 gold ball ornaments, hand-painted by a National Park artisan. Each creation reflects park treasures from sea to shining sea. Enjoy Storytime With Santa every day through December 24th at NorthPark Center. Holiday at the Arboretum through Dec 31st presents the12 Days of Christmas, featuring twelve elaborate 25-foot-tall Victorian gazebos filled with the charming costumed characters, whimsical animals and winter scenes made famous by the beloved Christmas carol.
These events are just a sampling of seasonal delights in the city. So, plan ahead and get your cheer on (and those plastic appendages, if you must).
